Have your pies and weight loss too

Sometimes you just want pies for breakfast

I want to show you how "un-diet" like I really am. I was at a family reunion over the weekend, where my family all gathered and brought all the food. 

 

My cousin makes homemade, from scratch pies. The old me would have felt completely out of control around so much sugar and would feel like this was a choice to lose weight or enjoy pie, with no possibilities between. All or nothing. I now know that I can choose how I approach these family affairs.

 

I came ready to love on family and enjoy every moment. And guess what I chose to enjoy these homemade pies. ALL OF THEM!

 

At the reunion I had a plate of lunch that was a little less than what my body was actually hungry for, so I could save room for the desserts.

 

When I got my plate I had a sliver of all the desserts I wanted to try. When a cousin who knows I am a weight loss coach, laughed and asked if I was going to post all the desserts on my page, I knew I had to share. 

 

I want to share because diet mentality that we've all experienced would say "I shouldn't be eating all the desserts." That kind of thinking leads to deprivation and restriction, which leads to thinking you are "good" if you don't eat it and "bad" if you do. Then when you have all the FOMO you eat it all and then spiral overeating and criticizing on repeat.

 

I love sharing another way. I teach you to eat what you love but do it in a way that you can feel good about yourself. 

 

I enjoyed my family and the food. I listened to my hunger and yes, I did overeat a little but nothing like I did before. I only ate the part of the pies that I liked (I don't like crust or meringue.) I chose to have some for breakfast and then I was finished, it didn't carry over into binging, restricting, and starting again tomorrow.

 

I now make decisions for myself, my health, and my weight loss all from a place of love & compassion. I always consider what I truly want and then do it in a way that honors how I now take care of myself and my relationship with food.

 

So yes, sometimes I eat all the pies for breakfast and I am not ashamed to let you all know it.
