You'll Never Believe What the Doctor Said

I went for my annual exam last week and this time was with a brand new doctor. You know all the paper work and questions, family medical history, all of it!

You know how these visits go.

My husband's work used to do these required yearly screenings for your insurance. They would check your weight, blood pressure, and prick your finger for blood sugar and cholesterol.  The "helpful" nurses would write every year at the top of my page "Very Extremely Morbidly Obese!!!!" Many times underlining or using red ink.

This did not elicit great motivation in me to do anything about the weight. 😡  Most doctor appointments, have even when more gently brought up, always revolved around my weight and the correlating concerns, I can tell you I never would have believed how last week's appointment was going to go.

The new doctor asked me MY Concerns, she gave me information and discussed what tests/imaging she would like. 😳 This was a discussion with her asking for my approval and input.

At the end she asked if I had any other questions. I had been gearing up, waiting to hear her say it. I baited her and said "Are you going to say anything about my weight?"

She asked if I wanted to know the BMI chart or something specific. NO, are you going to tell me I need to lose more weight? She said the BMI would still consider me obese but with all my loss and as long as my blood work comes back without a high A1C(blood sugar) then she would say I'm doing great and to continue whatever I've been doing.🥳

🤦🏼‍♀️ This is not what I anticipated. She said I was really very healthy and to not stop what I was doing. This is the first time since before my teen years I wasn't told by the doctor that my main concern should be to lose weight. First time ever!!!!

I wanted to share this with you for a couple of reasons. First because there are doctors with compassion, who include you in the discussion to monitor your health. She was there to truly help, wherever I needed her.

But the main reason was I almost missed how much I created this new found health by focusing on what the doctor was going to say.

I have consistently taken care of my body and my health. Yes, I lost weight but I have learned to listen to when my body needs sleep, more or less food/water, or something specific. I have done all of this. I have learned to be the best caregiver for my body.

I want every person to love themself enough to show this kind of care and compassion to their body & health, you deserve it.❤️  I can show you how! Start with the Free 5 Day Quick Start Weight Loss Course.
