[00:00:00] This month in the membership, we are reviewing the Finish Program, one section each week. This is a great time to go through it together, if you are a member and have already completed it, or if you are wanting to join. I'm going to give you a sneak peek. Revisiting the program will allow you to absorb and understand things that you didn't take in the first time.
Every time I go back through it, I pick up some detail that I forgot was in there, and I'm the one who wrote it. This week, we are starting with the first section, the quick start course. This is what everyone starts with. This is the free course that I offer. That course has all the basics that carry you through everything to get started.
So let's start there with the basics. The basics are the building blocks of weight loss. Water, sleep, planning, and only eating when you're hungry. These four basics are the what you do, part of your weight loss. [00:01:00] Later, I teach the how, but today it's the what. These are the things you will create habits and routines around.
If you came looking for a diet, this is what the diet is. You can eat anything you plan. You learn to listen to your body, and just because you can plan anything, your body will tell you that it may not like for you to plan certain things. As you listen, you will learn what your body reacts to. You can still choose the foods.
But you are also choosing the reaction. Extra greasy foods upset my stomach. And digestion. Salty and processed foods tend to bloat me, leaving me sore and increasing the number on the scale. Sugar creates inflammation, making my joints very sore, even painful. If I plan an entire large pizza, I will definitely have a scale gain and feel all kinds of miserable.
I may still choose some of these, maybe not the [00:02:00] entire large pizza. But I can decide how often. I like when my body is pain free and I really love not spending all my time in a bathroom. So I tend to listen and follow my body's responses. And I love how my body feels when I listen and take care of it.
Sometimes I eat it anyway. I have learned how much and how often I can have without the side effects. And sometimes I decide the reaction is worth it, and I eat it anyway. When you are actively planning, you are teaching yourself trust. Trusting that you are a person who does what they say they will.
Planning is not going to solely create weight loss. But when you are planning, you are depriving yourself of that weight. When you're not planning, I want to make this one super clear. When you are not planning, you are depriving yourself of making it easier. Yes. Planning is your opportunity to make things [00:03:00] easier and faster.
When you write it down, you are making decisions ahead of time. Before you are emotionally tied to any specific foods, Planning allows you to be prepared. You may even have backup plans for your plan. Clients tell me that planning is too hard. They don't have enough time, and they are burnt out on making decisions.
Each time, I can usually get them to write a plan in less than a few minutes. We know that planning isn't hard or time consuming. We tell ourselves that because it delays us from making mistakes. We think we need to make a perfect plan to lose weight. The plan doesn't have to be perfect, just doable, and it makes it all easier.
Our thoughts make it hard. The next part I want to talk about is assessing. Notice that I did not call it judging and ridiculing. Assessing is where you curiously look at your actions. You make guesses on what you think might help and [00:04:00] try that thing. This is some of the secret sauce to weight loss. When you stay curious and do not judge yourself, you open yourself up to a place that is willing to try things just to see what happens.
However, most of us have at some time criticized ourselves, our efforts and even others. That criticism does not feel good and we have quit in previous weight loss attempts to escape the pressure and guilt. Assessing is just showing us what worked and what we are still learning. As you set realistic goals and work to overcome each obstacle without expectation, you will figure out what works for you.
This open curiosity that leads to willingness is important because things, things like your hunger scale will change as your weight loss, as your weight changes. The more open you are, the more things you will try and it feels doable. You will gain [00:05:00] wins and I encourage you to celebrate every moment. Each thing is something new.
You are doing just slightly different than before. It is inevitable to succeed when you keep doing so many things. At least a few of them will be bound to make change.
I want to invite you right now to take another step. If you haven't taken my free quick start course, then I recommend you start there. You will learn the basic habits of weight loss in the five video course. That foundation sets you up for the how for the rest of the journey. If you have already taken that course or you are just ready to get started now, your next step is a kickstart lasting weight loss call.
I want to hear your personal weight loss story. I am really good at figuring out what the missing step has been for my clients. I would love to help you find one of the things that has held you back from lasting [00:06:00] weight loss. You can ask me any questions and we can discover your next step together. You can decide if coaching with me is what fills in all those missing steps.
